Scheduling Office

The scheduling office is the source for all classroom, studio, and performance hall reservations.  

The Scheduling Office works closely with Production Services, Piano Services, and Recording and Performance Technology Services to ensure that all event needs are met. Please contact these individual departments with any detailed questions about the services they provide. Services are not guaranteed unless confirmed with the respective departments.

Please note that the information on this page pertains to rentals made by members of the NEC community. To rent a concert hall or venue as an external organization, please visit our Concert Halls and Venue Rentals page.

Scheduling Office Operating Hours

Monday – Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Saturday – Sunday, CLOSED

All scheduling requests must be made a minimum of 24 business hours in advance. Please note that requests made after business hours, over weekends, or during holidays will be answered on the next business day.

Scheduling Requests

All scheduling requests must be made a minimum of 24 business hours in advance.

The Scheduling Office will review your request and assign a campus location that best meets your needs based on date, time, and location availability, as well as your production and technology needs.

Before making a reservation request through the Scheduling Office, please check any scheduling options available to you through your department, studio, faculty, or other outlets.

General Reservations for Performance Halls, Classrooms, and Studios

To reserve a rehearsal room or performance hall, please use the Scheduling Request Form. Rehearsal rooms and classrooms will be available for use on the following schedule for the following groups:

Continuing Students and Recent Graduates (Class of 2024)

All rehearsal rooms and performance halls are available June 2 through August 14.

Continuing Students and Incoming Students

All rehearsal rooms and performance halls are available August 15 through the start of the Fall 2024 semester.

Rehearsal Rooms

  • Rehearsal rooms will be available Monday through Friday during NEC’s building hours, based on venue availability.
  • Rehearsal rooms will be available during these times by reservation only, using the reservation system found below.

Performance Halls

  • Performance halls will be available for limited use, pending availability, using the reservation system found below. For questions regarding concert hall availability, email anna.kevelson@necmusic.edu.
  • Self-use recording and streaming systems are available for use by students and faculty in all concert halls except Jordan Hall and the Plimpton Shattuck Black Box Theatre. Information on the use of these systems may be found here.
  • The NEC Help Desk will be available for walk-in questions and assistance Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

NEC practice rooms are available for use by current students, faculty, and staff by reservation only. Please visit the Practice Room Reservations page for more information about how to reserve a room.

Recitals are limited to those required to receive degrees. Due to venue availability limitations, optional recitals will not be scheduled at this time.   

  • All recitals are limited to 90 minutes of performance time maximum, without intermission. 
  • Recitals must be reserved a minimum of 4 weeks in advance of your preferred recital date. All recital requests will be honored on a first come, first served basis. Every effort will be made to honor your date, time, and location requests.

Production, Recording, and Technology Services

All scheduling reservations require separate confirmation for production needs, recording services, or technology expectations. These elements are not automatically available in all spaces on campus, nor are they automatically provided. Confirmation of a scheduling request does not include confirmation of these extra services. Please contact the following departments for more information.
