Walter F. Starbuck
Walter F. Starbuck was a noted historian, author, and amateur musician from Waltham, Mass. Starbuck attended New England Conservatory for 15 semesters from 1897-1902.
While at NEC, Starbuck studied primarily with NEC director, George W. Chadwick, taking courses in counterpoint, harmony, instrumentation, and orchestration.
Archival Collection
The Walter F. Starbuck Papers are stored in one small document case containing four folders (approximately 60 items). The contents of this collection were originally in scrapbook format.
This collection was a gift of Mrs. Annabelle Harris, July 23, 1973.

The Walter F. Starbuck Papers consist of letters to Starbuck, including some written by notable New England Conservatory figures such as George W. Chadwick, Carl Faelten, Arthur Foote, and Helen Hopekirk. Additional noteworthy correspondents are Edward Burlingame Hill, Edward MacDowell, Marian MacDowell, Arthur Nikisch, and Emil Paur. Also contained in this collection are several autographs and autographed programs collected by Starbuck. The collection was originally in scrapbook format.
