Maude Phillips (Yates)
Maude Phillips [Yates] was from Platea, Pennsylvania and attended NEC for four semesters in 1892-1893. She studied piano with George Nowell; voice with William H. Dunham; theory with Louis C. Elson; Harmony with Percy Goetschius; and Solfege with Samuel Cole.

The Maude Phillips Papers contain just one series type, Class notes in binders. These date from 1892-1893.
Book 1: Notes from a Music History course taught by Percy Goetschius from October 5, 1892 until May 10, 1893. Includes notes dictated by Mr. Goetschius and some personal annotations written by Maude Phillips.
Book 2: Notes taken by Maude Phillips on thirty-four class lectures given at NEC from 1892-1893. The majority of lectures were given by Louis C. Elson. There were also four given by F. W. Hale, and one given each by Edward D. Hale and Nathan Haskell Dole respectively. In the middle of this volume, just preceding Lecture no. 20, is an index of these lectures listing lecture topics and their corresponding instructors.
Book 3: Notes taken by Maude Phillips during four terms of Music Theory taught by Louis C. Elson in 1892-1893. Also includes a pasted in photo of Louis C. Elson.
