Florence Owen Mills
Florence Owen Mills was born January 31, 1891 in CT, daughter of John and Martha Mills.
She graduated from NEC in 1916 with a degree in violin teaching with additional studies in Harmony, Theory and Music History. She studied with Eugene Gruenberg and Fritz Kreisler. On November 25, 1920 Florence Owen Mills married Joseph Lucien Carle (December 5, 1875 Le Havre, France – June 8, 1959 Brookline, MA), at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Brookline, MA. Florence passed away on October 18, 1968 in Woburn, MA. They had a son, Owen Mills Carle (1921-2010).

This collection contains three framed items. The first is Mills’ diploma that she received from NEC in 1916. It is signed by George W. Chadwick and Eben D. Jordan. The second item is a Certificate of Life Membership from NEC, also received in 1916. The last item is an autographed photograph of Fritz Kreisler dated 1915.
