New England Conservatory and Silkroad have formed a new and innovative partnership that will relaunch Silkroad's flagship musician training program, Global Musician Workshop, and bring it to NEC in June 2020. The program will run on NEC's campus from June 8 – 14 as part of NEC's suite of summer programs.

Created by Silkroad cellist and Contemporary Improvisation faculty member Mike Block, GMW is a weeklong program that brings together an all-star faculty with participants of a wide range of musical backgrounds in a collaborative, globally-minded environment. It is comprised of workshops, community-building activities, public performances, and conversation about what it means to be a musician in the 21st century.

GMW is open to participants over 18 years of age, from any musical background: university and conservatory students, as well as professional performers and teachers with backgrounds in Western classical, jazz, world, or folk styles.
