Pianist Yunchan Lim ’26 AD, an NEC Concert Artist, received the coveted Diapason d’Or de L’année award in the Young Talent category from the French magazine Diapason for his recording of Chopin’s Études. The album, which was released in April on Decca Classics, was the winner in the piano category of Gramophone’s Classical Music Awards in October, where Lim was recognized as Young Artist of the Year.

“These are thrilling performances of Chopin’s studies, the technique dazzlingly immaculate and the musical impulses propelling it often startlingly original,” the Guardian opined.

In 2022, at age 18, Lim became the youngest-ever winner of the prestigious Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. He made his Boston Symphony Orchestra and Carnegie Hall debuts in February of this year and studies at NEC with Minsoo Sohn ’99, ’01 GD, ’04 AD.
