On Wednesday, September 21, the Artist Diploma graduate will perform as violin soloist in Barber’s Concerto for Violin and Orchestra, op. 14.
The Fall 2022 season at New England Conservatory promises to be a powerful showcase of dynamic artistry from across the NEC community. The NEC Philharmonia, conducted by Hugh Wolff, opens the season on Wednesday, September 21 with a thrilling program of Revueltas, Barber, Montgomery, and Ravel in Jordan Hall.
NEC alumna Geneva Lewis ’20, ’22 AD will perform as violin soloist in Barber’s Concerto for Violin and Orchestra, op. 14. Lewis’ performances have been a highlight of previous concerts with the NEC Philharmonia, including her February 2021 performance of Schnittke’s Concerto Grosso No. 1 alongside violinist Maria Ioudenitch ’20 MM, ’22 AD.
Lewis is the recipient of multiple awards for rising stars in the world of string performance, including a 2022 Borletti-Buitoni Trust Grant and a 2021 Avery Fisher Career Grant, in addition to being the Grand Prize winner of the 2020 Concert Artists Guild Competition. Lewis was also recently named one of BBC Radio 3’s New Generation Artists.
