Double bassist Yizhen Wang began studying double bass with Jian Cao at the age of 16 in Shanghai, China. Ms. Wang is As an active musician who enjoys working within the community, Ms.Wang also with Soloists of New Double bassist Yizhen Wang began studying double bass with Jian Cao at the age of 16 in Shanghai, China. Ms. Wang is As an active musician who enjoys working within the community, Ms.Wang also with Soloists of New England, the Philharmonia Boston, the Kendall Square Orchestra, the Park Street Orchestra, MIT Symphony Orchestra, Video Game Orchestra, and other ensembles in the Greater Boston Area.

Currently, Ms. Wang is serving as a faculty member of New England Conservatory Preparatory School, Ms.Wang enjoys working with students of all ages both in private and group class setting. She’s also leading the Music Explorer Program every summer to introduce double bass to more and more young students. This spring, Ms. Wang has opened a vacation camp with friends in Lexington, MA, aiming to combine music with visual art in a holistic way that will help children develop their own artistic sense in a thorough manner.

Ms. Wang received her Bachelor's degree in double bass performance in 2016 from the New England Conservatory, and her Master's degree from Boston University in 2018. She was also a fellow at the Round Top Festival in 2015. Yizhen’s many wonderful teachers include Todd Seeber, Lawrence Wolfe, and Derek Weller.
