Vera Rubin has performed solo and chamber music throughout Russia, Germany, Eastern Europe, Australia, New Zealand, China, and the United States. She is the leader of the Mendelssohn String Quartet, the concertmistress and a soloist of Yad Harif chamber orchestra in Israel, and in the first violin section of the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, as well as the leader of the Linden Piano Quartet.
Rubin has successful private studios in Jerusalem, Wellington, and Boston. Students in her studio are regular winners of state and national young artist competitions. Many of her former students hold positions in orchestras around Europe, Russia, Israel, New Zealand, and the United States.
Rubin has extensive experience lecturing on methodical and pedagogical topics in New Zealand, China, Israel, and the United States. Her area of expertise is the teaching of virtuoso bow strokes, posture relaxation, sound improvement, and knowledge of baroque instruments.
