Hailed for his “impressive stylistic fluidity,” Dr. Ryan Noe is an active freelancer throughout the Northeast United States and currently holds the position of Principal Trumpet for the Glens Falls Symphony (NY). As an orchestral musician, he has performed with groups such as the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra, Portland Symphony, Symphony New Hampshire, Springfield Symphony (MA), Cape Symphony, Plymouth Philharmonic, Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra, Vista Philharmonic and as guest principal trumpet with the Vermont and New Bedford Symphonies. As a theater musician he has performed with Opera Maine and Enigma Opera.

As a chamber musician, Dr. Noe is a member of the Andromeda Quintet and the Fenway Quintet and has performed and toured with the Vermont Symphony Brass Quintet as well as performed with Triton Brass, Bala Brass, Western Brass Quintet and the Portland Symphony Brass Quintet. Andromeda has presented their program “Women at the 49th parallel” a collection of brass quintet pieces by living female American and Canadian composers at the International Women’s Brass Conference. As a recording artist he can be heard on Vivat Regina: The Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth and the soundtrack to the popular Japanese crime show Iryu Sousa.

He often performs for NPR member station WBUR on their live broadcasts of “The Bach Experience” from Marsh Chapel and has performed with the Vermont Symphony Brass Quintet for Vermont Public Radio. As a commercial musician he has performed with the Arch Street band as well as for such dignitaries as William and Catherine, Prince and Princess of Wales for the 2022 Earthshot Awards. An advocate for new music he has performed with Boston Modern Orchestra Project, Alea III: Contemporary Music Ensemble and Bang on a Can and has premiered works by Jennifer Higdon and Gunther Schuller as well as commissioned the piece Triptych by, Cody Forest. He has worked with renowned conductors such as Keith Lockhart, Rafael Payer, Lorin Maazel, and Gunter Schuller and has soloed in front of the Glens Falls Symphony, Ohio Light Opera Orchestra, University Southern Maine Concert Band, and University of Massachusetts-Boston Orchestra.

In addition to his duties at NEC, Dr. Noe is Lecturer of Music at University of Southern Maine’s Osher School of Music and Associate Lecturer of Trumpet for University of Massachusetts-Boston. He has presented masterclasses at Eastern Michigan University, Grand Valley State University, Bridgewater State University and Western Michigan University. He previously taught at Boston University, Boston University Tanglewood Institute, and Northeastern University. Dr. Noe’s teachers include Terry Everson, Scott Thornburg and Thomas Siders. He holds his Doctor of Musical Arts and Masters of Music Degrees from Boston University and received his Bachelor of Music from Western Michigan University.
