Peter Moffett is a percussionist living in Brooklyn, NY, renowned for his talents as a musician and educator. As a performer, Peter is a sought-after collaborator with a strong belief in orchestrating drum parts that not only drive the music forward but also intricately complement each song and musical arrangement.

He currently lends this musical sensibility to acts such as Tredici Bacci and Sami Stevens, alongside a diverse array of other musical outfits. Peter is proud to have developed these skills at New England Conservatory and subsequently as a touring and performing musician. Peter aims to elevate performances with service to the artist and their music and with a keen sense for captivating performance.

As a son of two retired public school music educators, Peter has found a calling in teaching music to elementary, middle, and high school students. Teaching in public schools and music schools in New York City, Peter’s energy, enthusiasm, and devotion are unquestionably in the areas where he is able to contribute to the field of music education, focusing on students’ ability to enjoy a creative classroom environment. 

Each summer, Peter heads to Boston to serve as a faculty member at New England Conservatory's Jazz Lab camp, a role he has held since its inception in 2013. This prestigious program allows Peter to share his expertise and passion for music with aspiring young musicians.

Rooted in the wisdom and guidance of his own music teachers, Peter's philosophy aims to bridge the worlds of performer and educator. Through his artistry on stage, he honors the legacy of those who came before him, while in the classroom, he carries forward the torch of inspiration passed to him. For Peter, the life of a musician and educator is not just a vocation, but an exciting opportunity and responsibility to inspire that he is grateful to experience and share.
