“Demonstrating flawless technique and excellent breath control (CVNC),” flautist Dr. Pauline Jung’s performance career has led her through Slovakia, Austria, South Korea, and the United States.

She has been a soloist several times with the Slovak State Opera Chamber Orchestra, with the Mid Atlantic Wind Symphony, with the University of North Carolina Symphony Orchestra, and with the Long Island Youth Orchestra. She is principal flutist of the Boston Civic Symphony and the Boston Chamber Symphony, and has performed in guest roles with others, including the Atlantic Symphony Orchestra and Lexington Symphony Orchestra. She has won many prizes at competitions, including third prize at the National Flute Association Young Artist Competition, second prize at the James Pappoutsakis Memorial Flute Competition and the Boston Concert Artist Society, and first prize at the Doriot Anthony Dwyer Flute Merit Award.


Dr. Jung serves as a flute faculty at New England Conservatory Expanded Education, a private flute instructor at Weston Public Schools and Lexington Community Education, and as assistant flute faculty of the Boston University Tanglewood Institute Flute Workshop. She has taught at Boston University as a flute professor and Concert Band coach, at the University of Massachusetts Boston as an Orchestra coach, at Curry College as a Private Music Instructor, and at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign’s Summer Youth Music program as flute faculty. She also served as an Education and Community Engagement Teaching Fellow with the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra.

Dr. Jung holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a Master of Music degree from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Boston University, where she studied with Brooks de Wetter-Smith, Jonathan Keeble, and Linda Toote.
