Matthew Cron earned a Ph.D. from Brandeis University, an M.A. from Smith College, and a B.A. from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. 

His scholarly work has focused on Bach, Beethoven, performance practice, and the history of brass instruments.  He has taught at Brandeis University,  the New England Conservatory of Music, Harvard University, and online at the Harvard Extension School and Rutgers University.

He is currently on the faculty of the New England Conservatory of Music and part of the Boston University Center for Beethoven Research.  In addition, he is an organist and accompanist for voice students.
