February 24

The snow emergency in the city of Boston has been extended until at least 6 p.m. on Tuesday, February 24. All performances, rehearsals, and ensembles scheduled for Tuesday, February 24 are canceled. This includes all evening performances. We will resume normal operations on Wednesday, February 25. Please see the events calendar for more information regarding specific performances.

Education and Training

BM, New England Conservatory; GD and MM, Longy School of Music. Marta attended the Academy of Music in Krakow, Poland. Her violin teachers have included Wieslaw Kwasny, Valeria Kuchment, and Eric Rosenblith.

Department: Conductor, PSO, Prep Ensembles; Strings

Ms. Zurad conducts the Preparatory String Orchestras at New England Conservatory.

She is also the conductor of the Petit Ensemble, the Young People’s String Orchestra, and the Intensive Community Program Orchestra at the Boston Youth Symphony Orchestras. She was the founder and conductor of the Longy Concertino and Sinfonietta. She is on the string faculty at NEC and at the Rivers School Conservatory (RSC). At RSC, she also is the founder and director of Camerata Strings, an advanced string ensemble. She serves as an adjudicator for various local concerto competitions, and leads orchestra workshop/clinics in local schools.

She is a very active chamber musician, and is a past participant of Yellow Barn Music Festival and Apple Hill Chamber Music Festival. She plays regularly with a number of local chamber groups, both as a violinist and a violist. She was a longtime member of the Lexington Symphony, and has performed with many other orchestras in the Boston area. Marta is also faculty of the BYSO and Rivers Conservatory.
