She played with acclaimed orchestras, including the Armenian Philharmonic and the Williamsburg and Arlington Symphonies. She has also conducted master classes at Bridgewater State University, Department of Music. She has collaborated with Levon Chilingirian OBE, Movses Pogossian (UCLA), and Sofya Vardanyan. She is an active promoter and performer of contemporary music. She played US premieres of pieces by composers V. Sargsyan, M. Zakarian, and Grigor Arakelian. She has also served on the board of the New England Piano Teachers Association.

Students of Lilit Karapetian-Shougarian have been accepted to top conservatories and universities, including but not limited to: Harvard University, Brown University, University of California – Berklee, Colby College, and the University of Michigan. They have also received offers and been accepted from the Manhattan School of Music, Mannes School of Music, Eastman School of Music, NEC, Northwestern, and more. Lilit’s students have been finalists and winners of local and international competitions such as the Chopin Competition in Connecticut, the Paderewski Competition, the Young Artist Competition, the BSO Concerto Competition, the NEPTA Competition, the International Festival in Poland, and more.
