Beth Sorrentino has been completely immersed in the wonder of making music her whole life. For over 30 years, Beth has been an early childhood music educator, curriculum designer, musical theater writer, composer, director, singer, and pianist.
Originally from Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Beth spent her childhood making up songs, finding her way around the piano by ear, and creating little shows with whatever resources were available. Following high school, Beth attended The Boston Conservatory of Music, Dance, and Theater, where she studied musical theater.
In the early 1990s, Beth formed the trio “Suddenly, Tammy!” and eventually signed with Warner Bros. Records, recorded, and toured.
Beth has created programming, concerts, plays, events, and more for many public, private, and charter schools throughout NYC, LA, and, most recently, at Milton Academy. She received an MA in early childhood music education from Teachers College/ Columbia.
While in NYC, she taught at several schools, including IDEAL School of Manhattan, where she served as the original Creative Arts Director and developed a music curriculum for inclusive learners. Beth was also a resident composer at the Kaufman Center in NYC for 8 years, played throughout the NYC area as a solo singer-songwriter, composed music for independent films and a PBS television series “Cracklebox”, was a frequent guest vocalist and pianist with Loser’s Lounge at Joe’s Pub, The Raymond Scott Orchestrette, improv comedy troupe Upright Citizens Brigade and as a composer and proud member of The Story Pirates,
Although Beth has traveled the country several times throughout her career, she is now happily (and permanently!) settled back in the Boston area!
Beth is thrilled to join the wonderful NEC Team to share in the unmatched joy of music-making with our most magical young creators!
