NEC Jazz Orchestra: John Coltrane Centennial Concert

Jazz Studies Assistant Chair Mark Tipton conducts the New England Conservatory Jazz Orchestra with internationally renowned saxophonist and NEC faculty member Jerry Bergonzi in a vibrant celebration of the music and artistry of the visionary saxophonist and composer John Coltrane, one of the most influential and beloved figures in jazz history. Coltrane created groundbreaking works including Giant Steps, My Favorite Things, and A Love Supreme. Nearly six decades after his passing, Coltrane’s music continues to inspire celebration, discovery, and artistic excellence around the world. Featuring interpretations of works drawn from across Coltrane’s remarkable career, this concert honors a musician whose creativity, passion, and fearless pursuit of new artistic horizons helped redefine the possibilities of jazz.
