Longwood Symphony Orchestra Presents: Mendelssohn's Joyful Blue Skies

Benefiting Care Dimensions
Music Director Jotaro Nakano leads the orchestra of Boston’s healthcare community in a program exploring the resilience and joy of the human experience through Mendelssohn's beloved fourth symphony, "Italian". The program will open with the Overture by Polish violinist and composer Grażyna Bacewicz. Written in 1943 during the German occupation of Poland, this short work takes the listener on a tumultuous and ultimately triumphant journey.
Renowned Boston-based violinist Gabriela Diaz will be the featured soloist in William Grant Still's Suite for Violin and Orchestra. Diaz is a member of the Kronos Quartet, the co-artistic director of Winsor Music, and co-founding core artist of Boston Hope Music. Joining Diaz for Sarasate's Navarra is LSO concertmaster and Harvard/MIT MD-Phd trainee Stacie Lin.
A portion of the proceeds from this concert will benefit the LSO’s Community Partner, Care Dimensions. As the state’s largest hospice provider, Care Dimensions has evolved into a comprehensive leader in home-based healthcare. As a trusted expert and thought leader in the field, we are shaping the future of care by supporting individuals as they navigate aging in place to serious illness and end-of-life care. In addition to renowned hospice services, they offer palliative care to ease the symptoms and stress of serious illness, enhancing quality of life. Care Dimensions also offers two hospice houses, delivering expert, compassionate care and support in a warm, home-like setting.
