First Monday at Jordan Hall: Shostakovich, Gubaidulina, Ravel, and Massenet
Join us as we open the 41st season of First Mondays. Programs feature well-loved classics and new compositions, performed by some of the world's finest chamber musicians, free and open to all.

The First Monday season begins by celebrating founder and former Artistic Director Laurence Lesser. Bringing together NEC faculty with young musicians from the Institute for Concert Artists (ICA), the concert will also feature several notable alumni, including former Lesser student and recently appointed New York Philharmonic cellist Deokyong Kim ’21, ’23 MM, ’24 GD, and new violin member of the Kronos Quartet, Gabriela Díaz.

The program includes Shostakovich’s Piano Quintet, honoring the 50th anniversary of the composer’s death, as well as music by Maurice Ravel and the recently departed and celebrated Soviet/Russian composer Sofia Gubaidulina.

The live stream of this event is available to NEC Community members only. To watch the stream, please click the “Streaming Access” button at the top of the page and enter the NEC Community streaming password on the video window labeled “NEC-Produced Stream” when prompted.
