In-Person Event
Open to the Public
Join BMOP for a powerful evening of rhythm, resonance, and innovation in “Bang the Drum,” an orchestral celebration of percussion’s boundless energy and expressive range.
The program features the Boston premiere of Celestial Circus (2014) by Richard Danielpour, a showcase for three percussionists that blurs the lines between earthbound ritual and cosmic spectacle.
In honor of Gunther Schuller’s Centennial (1925–2015), BMOP presents his Grand Concerto for Percussion and Keyboards (2005), a virtuosic composition for eight percussionists, harp, cello, and ensemble — a fitting tribute to one of the 20th century’s most visionary musical minds.
