Prescreening:

  • Movements 1 and 2 of a concerto by W.A. Mozart, C.M.v. Weber, or J.N. Hummel (expositions only, accompaniment preferred);
  • Two (2) of the following orchestral excerpts:
    • W.A. Mozart: The Marriage of Figaro Overture (mm. 139 – 171)
    • P. Tchaikovsky: Symphony no. 4 (mvt. 2, solo to end)
    • P. Tchaikovsky: Symphony no. 6 (mvt. 1, opening solo)
    • M. Ravel: Bolero (solo)
    • M. Ravel: Piano Concerto (mvt. 1, rhl. 9 – 10, and mvt. 3, rhl. 14 – 16)
    • I. Stravinsky: The Rite of Spring (opening solos)
    • I. Stravinsky: The Firebird (“Berceuse” solo)
    • N. Rimsky-Korsakov: Scheherazade (mvt. 2, solo and cadenzas)
    • L.v. Beethoven: Symphony no. 4 (mvt. 4, mm. 15 – 25, 184 – 188, 300 – 303, 348- end)
    • D. Shostakovich: Symphony no. 9 (solo from mvts. 4 – 5)

Final Auditions:

  • Two (2) contrasting movements from an 18th or 19th-century sonata, concerto, or unaccompanied piece (or a one-movement work in its entirety), or two contrasting etudes from the Milde 50 Concert Studies;
  • Two (2) contrasting movements from a 20th or 21st-century sonata, concerto, or unaccompanied piece (or a one-movement work in its entirety);
  • Two (2) orchestral excerpts of your choice.

Recorded Auditions:

Please record 5-10 minutes of each solo piece in one take without edits. If one of your selections is less than 5 minutes, please record the entire selection. If one of your selections is more than 10 minutes, please do not record the entire piece and instead select excerpts of the piece to perform. Orchestral excerpts should be recorded in one take without edits.
