Annie Jacobs-Perkins wins 2023 Pierre Fournier Award

Cellist Annie Jacobs-Perkins ’20 MM, ’21 GD has been named the winner of the Pierre Fournier Award, following her performance of two movements from Elliot Carter’s Sonata for Cello and Piano and Fauré Cello Sonata no.1 with pianist Dina Ivanova.

As winner of the Pierre Fournier Award, Jacobs-Perkins will receive a recital in London’s Wigmore Hall, a professional film recording of this recital, a CD on the Champs Hill label as well as a chamber performance with Oxford May Music, and a solo appearance with the Philharmonia Orchestra during the following season.

At NEC, Jacobs-Perkins studied with Laurence Lesser and held the Laurence Lesser Presidential Scholarship while earning her Master of Music and Graduate Diploma.

Jacobs-Perkins has enjoyed prior competition success, which includes first prize at the Chamber Orchestra of the Springs Emerging Soloist Competition, New England Conservatory Concerto Competition, Thornton School Solo Bach Competition, and Hennings-Fischer Young Artist Competition. Her chamber music competition success includes first prize with Trio Brontë at the 2023 Ilmari Hannikainen Piano Chamber Music Competition and third prize at the 2016 Fischoff Chamber Music Competition with the Callisto Trio.

In her free time, Jacobs-Perkins spends time learning about local and sustainable food sources, reading about feminism, adoring her nephew, training for her first Muay Thai fight, and foraging in Boston’s parks for indigenous edible plants.
