Adam Levin

Co-Founder of Kithara Project, Inc.

NEC empowered me to become a leader in the community and spearhead initiatives that would transform peoples’ lives.

WHAT IS YOUR ORGANIZATION’S MISSION?

To improve the lives of children and youth through the classical guitar.

WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO LAUNCH THIS INITIATIVE?

A life long love for the classical guitar and the desire to share its transformational qualities with at-risk and underserved communities.

WHAT ARE YOUR ORGANIZATION’S GOALS THIS YEAR?

To complete construction of our music school in Mexico City, to complete level 1 and level 2 of the Kithara Project Guitar Curriculum, to expand the number of students served from 130-150, and fundraise for an Executive Director position.

HOW HAVE YOUR NEC EXPERIENCES SHAPED YOUR APPROACH TO YOUR WORK?

NEC empowered me to become a leader in the community and spearhead initiatives that would transform peoples’ lives.

SHARE ANY OTHER STORIES THAT INSPIRED YOUR WORK.

Eliot Fisk, guitar faculty at NEC, has always been a guiding light; an inspiration for me and my work as a performer, pedagogue and music activist. He has the unique capacity to identify a student’s unique qualities as a musician and human-being, and empower he/she/they to be their best self. He always encouraged me to share the guitar with my local communities to refine my artistic identity as well as transform the next generation of young people.
