In Transformative Opportunity, Endowment Challenge Aims to Strengthen NEC for Generations

In September, New England Conservatory unleashed a revolution in music education by announcing its bold $150 million Campaign for the Future of Music Education. With more than $120 million raised, we are nearing our goal!

The campaign’s most vital priority is securing  $70 million in endowment support by June 30, 2027, to create permanent resources for:

• Student scholarships
• Faculty excellence and innovation
• Groundbreaking initiatives

Unlocking a $5M Challenge

If NEC meets the $70 million endowment goal, an anonymous foundation will unlock a $5 million grant in an endowment challenge. This is a transformative opportunity.

We have made tremendous progress toward this goal, but we must continue to raise critical endowment support to unlock the challenge and make a lasting investment in NEC’s future.

Growing NEC’s endowment will strengthen the Conservatory for generations to come, empowering NEC musicians to continue to defy conventions, expand the boundaries of collaboration and performance, and redefine music’s place in the world.

The Vision

As NEC President Andrea Kalyn states:

“This campaign is about the future: the future of our students, the future of music, and the future of its impact on the world. We are reimagining what it means to be a musician in the 21st century … ensuring every talented student has the opportunity to pursue their dreams.”

Andrea Kalyn

President, New England Conservatory

The success of the Campaign for the Future of Music Education is essential to fulfilling NEC’s mission, elevating global leadership and artistic excellence, ensuring the Conservatory remains at the forefront of musical innovation and impact.

Change is powerful. Change is vital. Change is expensive. Together we can unleash the power of music. Join the endowment challenge and our ensemble of philanthropic revolutionaries.
