International Tchaikovsky Competition
The International Tchaikovsky Competition, “the world’s most prestigious” (The Guardian), was first held in 1958.
That inaugural contest was won by American pianist Van Cliburn. Subsequent prizewinners have included such celebrated pianists as Vladimir Ashkenazy, Denis Matsuev, and Daniil Trifonov, among others.
