Vainshtein came to the United States in 2000 to study at the Cleveland Institute of Music, where she worked with Vivian Hornik Weilerstein and Donald Weilerstein. She soon established an active performing career, appearing at major venues and festivals including Alice Tully Hall and Weill Recital Hall in New York City, the Caramoor Festival, Music at Menlo, the Ravinia Festival, the Heifetz Institute, and the Music Academy at Santa Barbara. Her international engagements have taken her throughout Japan, China, Europe, and Russia.

Vainshtein has recorded two Naxos releases: a recital disc with Frank Huang, concertmaster of the New York Philharmonic, and a recording of Émile Sauret’s violin showpieces with violinist Michi Wiancko. Her playing on the Sauret recording was praised by Bob McQuiston, who noted her “perfect balancing act” between artistic reserve during bravura violin passages and dramatic assertiveness when the piano is spotlighted.
Vainshtein has been affiliated with the New England Conservatory for nearly two decades.

Her teaching experience includes chamber music coaching at WHS, sonata coaching at the Aspen Music Festival, and teaching the Orchestra Reductions course at New England Conservatory in the spring of 2026.

For many years, Vainshtein collaborated with Benjamin Zander in his renowned interpretation classes. Maestro Zander praised their work together as “the perfect partnership,” describing Vainshtein as “the ultimate professional.”
