Michele Adams is a conductor, educator, and arts leader with more than twenty-five years of experience advancing choral excellence, arts education, and organizational growth across public, private, and nonprofit settings. She is delighted to serve as Director of Choirs for Expanded Education at New England Conservatory (NEC), where she provides artistic and strategic leadership of NEC’s Expanded Education choral programs and serves as the Founding Conductor of the Boston Symphony Orchestra x NEC Honors Children’s Choir.
Recognized for her work with children’s and youth choruses, Adams has held leadership positions with the Handel + Haydn Youth Choruses, Boston Children’s Chorus, and Nebraska Children’s Chorus. As Director of Choirs at Boston Children’s Chorus, she conducted ensembles across the organization’s choral pathway, including the symphonic choir, while providing oversight of educational programming, recruitment, and artistic personnel. Under her leadership, ensembles collaborated with leading professional orchestras and distinguished artists, earning acclaim for their musical sophistication, expressive depth, and artistic excellence.
In addition to her artistic accomplishments, Adams brings extensive experience in institutional leadership and development. She most recently served as Managing Director of Development at Veritas Christian Academy, where she led fundraising and advancement initiatives while continuing her work as a conductor and music educator. Previously, she served as Executive Director of the Performing Arts Center of MetroWest, guiding organizational strategy, operations, programming, and community engagement during a period of growth and transformation.
An active guest conductor, clinician, adjudicator, and speaker, Adams is known for her commitment to developing young musicians. She studied choral conducting, music education, and voice at the University of South Carolina, Florida State University, and the New England Conservatory. She lives in MetroWest, Massachusetts, with her husband and two daughters.
