NEC Symphony + Hugh Wolff
Tonight's program, conducted by Hugh Wolff, opens with Jennifer Higdon's Fanfare Ritmico (1999), a work which Higdon describes as celebrating "that rhythmic motion, of man and machine, and the energy which permeates every moment of our being in the new century." This is followed by Deux Images, Bartók's work for orchestra which was influenced by his recent exposure to Debussy's Images for piano. The evening concludes with Johannes Brahms' last symphony.
