West African Art Music Festival: “Shaping of Identity” with the Center for Cultural Equity and Belonging
Hosted by NEC's Center for Cultural Equity and Belonging (CEB), this panel focuses on identity and curriculum. Questions to be explored include: "how does the experience of living and working in the U.S. as scholars and practitioners of African music shape one's identity?" and "what opportunities does African Art Music hold for diversifying the curriculum in the United States?"

Panelists include Kwasi Ampene (Tufts University), Olabode Omojola (Mt. Holyoke College), John Dankwa (Wesleyan University), and Felicia Sandler of the Music Theory Department at NEC. The discussion will be moderated by Monique Van Willingh, NEC’s Interim Dean of Students and Campus Life and Director of Cultural Equity and Belonging.
