In-Person Event
Open to the Public

New England Conservatory's Piano Department invites the public to join NEC students in exploring the challenges and complexities that pianists face in the world today, through presentations and master classes by guest artists and NEC faculty. Today's presenters are Bruce Brubaker and Martin Antiphon, with Katarina Milkovic moderating the discussion on "Eno Piano."
Composer Katarina Miljkovic has written for symphony orchestra, string orchestra, and various other groupings, including works for amplified saxophone, saxophone quartet, prepared piano, percussion, electric guitar, and computer generated sounds. Miljkovic's interest in the relationship of science, nature, and music led her to the mathematician Benoit Mandelbrot's essay "The Fractal Geometry of Nature" and self-similar complex structures. Her cycle based on this idea, Forest, for two prepared pianos and percussion, has been released by Sachimay Records.
Martin Antiphon has numerous studio collaborations to his credit with Ibrahim Maalouf, Balake Sissoko, Rone or Vanessa Wagner, as well as concerts throughout Europe as a live electronic performer for Kaija Saariaho, Sivan Eldar and Sebastian Rivas. On the strength of his mastery of traditional mixing techniques and spatial audio technologies, Martin is now working on converging his skills in the field of immersive audio. He is currently CTO of Music Unit, within wich he has developed a patented 3D audio synthesiser. However Martin continues to create and recently inaugurated his first sound installation, Lo Parlament, in his home town of Pau. Since 2022, Martin is vice-president of the French section of the AES.
