Violinist and NEC alumna Geneva Lewis ’20, ’22 AD joins the Los Angeles Philharmonic and conductor Gustavo Dudamel for a performance at its annual gala concert on October 5.
Geneva is joined on the program by LA Phil Creative Chair for Jazz Herbie Hancock, postmodern dancer and choreographer Lucinda Childs, and GRAMMY Award-winning R&B singer H.E.R.
Marking the 20th anniversary of the Walt Disney Concert Hall, the concert is a celebration of Frank Gehry, the architect of the iconic LA venue.
During her time at NEC, Lewis’ performances were a highlight of concerts with the NEC Philharmonia, including her fall 2022 performance of Barber’s Concerto for Violin and her spring 2021 performance of Schnittke’s Concerto Grosso No. 1 alongside violinist Maria Ioudenitch ’20 MM, ’22 AD.
Lewis is the recipient of multiple awards for rising stars in string performance, including a 2022 Borletti-Buitoni Trust Grant and a 2021 Avery Fisher Career Grant, in addition to being the Grand Prize winner of the 2020 Concert Artists Guild Competition. Lewis was also recently named one of BBC Radio 3’s New Generation Artists.
