Bring the joy of music to any special event! NEC’s Music Referral Service provides artistic excellence and exceptional value perfect for weddings, corporate functions, or any distinguished occasion.
Through New England Conservatory's Music Referral Service (MRS), you can engage some of today's most talented young musicians to play classical music, jazz, and a wide variety of other musical styles at your home, private, or corporate event.
Artists referred through the service are students and recent alumni of New England Conservatory, internationally renowned as one of the world's finest music schools.
How do I request a musician?
Requests for musicians may be made by submitting our on-line form, or by calling the office at (617) 585-1170.
When submitting your request, please specify the date, time, location, and nature of your event, and the specific type of music you wish to have performed.
If you need more information about styles of music or specifics of instrumentation that will work best for your event or performance, please refer to our Guide, or call us for consultation.
Upon receiving your request, we will select the appropriate artist(s) and put the soloist or ensemble leader directly in contact with you. This allows you to freely discuss all necessary details such as repertoire, specific timing, travel arrangements, and artist fee.
Please note: as the MRS is an office of a music school, and our students do not always know their schedules and opportunities beyond the school year, we cannot accept requests for performance dates more than six months in advance.
How do I know the performer(s) you refer
will be right for me?
If you wish, the artist or ensemble will be pleased to provide you with a "demo" tape featuring examples of the pieces that represent their style, and the type of music that is appropriate for the event.
What is the cost?
The Music Referral Service does not set fees; we encourage each artist/ensemble to negotiate fees as part of career training.
However, fees generally range between $100-125 per musician per hour, plus travel expenses.
Harp is $300 for the first two hours, negotiable thereafter. (This fee includes the moving fee that is paid by the harpist.)
