Violinist Maria Benotti has been teaching throughout her career. Her violin study was under some of the most distinguished teachers of our time, including Eric Rosenblith, Dorothy DeLay, Valeria Kuchment, Daniel Stepner and David Cerone. Her chamber music training included coaching with Eric Rosenblith, David Wells, Michael Schnitzler, Earl Carlyss and Josef Gingold. This powerful legacy has translated into a rich resource for years of successful teaching.

Earliest private violin teaching was done at the after-school programs in Wellesley and Lexington, MA in the mid-1970’s. She joined the faculty at the Belmont Music School, now known as Powers Music School, in 1974, and in 1977 she began teaching at the New England Conservatory Preparatory School.  She coached and guided younger players in their chamber music studies at Yellow Barn Festival in 1980 and 1981. Between 1980 and 1992, Ms. Benotti has taught violin and chamber music at Northeastern University, Wheaton College in Norton, MA, and Gordon College in Wenham, MA, where she also taught a strings methods class. In 2001 she offered a String Pedagogy Institute through the NEC Summer School, focusing on developing the intermediate student into an advanced player. In 1986 she initiated the Sonata Duo class at NEC Prep, which continues to offer an attractive and fulfilling chamber music experience for violinists and pianists. Every year Benotti Studio students participate in a Recital Festival at year’s end, allowing each student to share with friends and family his/her growth in a supportive group environment. She continues teaching at NEC Prep, helping students realize their fullest potential, from talented amateurs to professional musicians now working in the U.S., Asia and Europe.
