Leslie Amper has enjoyed teaching a wide range of students from young children to adults. Her students have gone on to be high level respected professionals and enthusiastic avocational  musicians. The approach for all students is based on strong musicianship which emphasizes the skills needed to become independent by enlivening and strengthening the avenues of ear, hand, heart, and mind.
Leslie Amper’s robust career includes solo recitals, concertos, chamber music, contemporary ensembles, and piano duo repertoire. She also creates unique multi-media performances related to the visual arts, which have been presented in colleges and museums nationwide, including the National Gallery of Art, Smithsonian American Art Museum, Carnegie Mellon University, and the University of Washington, among many others.
Her childhood teachers in Pittsburgh and at Oberlin College and New England Conservatory left an indelible imprint of what is possible in music. Her teacher Russell Sherman knew how to bring out the unique talents of each student and Leslie Amper has embraced this in her own teaching.
