Summer Institute for Contemporary Performance Practice (SICPP)

June 14 – June 20, 2026

SICPP is an intensive performance seminar on music of today for advanced instrumentalists, vocalists, and young composers. The experience is intense: full days of master classes, lessons, rehearsals and concerts. It’s an invaluable experience for anyone interested in new music and ready to tackle the challenges of 20th and 21st century repertoire under a faculty uniquely experienced in learning, performing and teaching these pieces.

Early Music Institute

June 21 – June 27, 2026

The Early Music Institute is a week-long program for collegiate and adult musicians, offering daily lessons, rehearsing, and coaching in 17th and 18th century chamber music, taught by extraordinary experts in early music. NEC teachers and guest speakers will present lectures on various topics in early music, and the week will culminate in an orchestral performance alongside early music faculty at NEC’s historic Jordan Hall.

Jazz Lab: Workshop for Adults

June 21 – June 27, 2026

Rediscover the joy of jazz in a week designed for adult musicians of all backgrounds. Whether you’re a dedicated hobbyist, a music educator, or someone looking to dust off your instrument and play again, this workshop offers the perfect mix of learning, fun, and community. Spend your days making music with supportive peers, rehearsing in small groups, and exploring new ideas with inspiring NEC faculty and guest artists.

Jazz Lab

June 28 – July 4, 2026

Jazz Lab is a week-long creative music program with a unique, customized approach. Musicians aged 13-18 work with world-class faculty and guest artists in small ensembles, instrumental workshops, and masterclasses and enjoy incredible performances.

Summer Orchestra Institute

Session 1: June 28 – July 11, 2026
Session 2: July 12 – July 25, 2026

NEC’s Summer Orchestra Institute is a four-week full symphony orchestra program open to intermediate- to advanced-level strings, brass, winds, and percussion students between the ages of 13-18.

Summer Chamber Music: Young Artist Program

August 8 – August 16, 2026

Summer Chamber Music: Young Artist Program participants will learn from renowned faculty, engaging in intensive rehearsals, personalized coaching, and culminating concert performances. All admitted students receive full scholarships, offering an incredible opportunity to attend at no cost. This exclusive program is open to advanced violin, viola, cello, and piano students ages 13–18.
