November 10 – 17: NEC Festival: Charles Ives, Ruth Crawford Seeger, and American Musical Innovation

NEC celebrates Charles Ives’ (1874 - 1954) 150th birthday with a tribute to American musical innovation, featuring his music, the work of visionary composer, educator, and folklorist Ruth Crawford Seeger (1901 - 1953), and their legacies, both recognized and unheard. Special events will run throughout the week, including workshops with Alex Cummings, Adah Hetko, and residencies with guest artists Raven Chacon and Theo Bleckmann, with concerts every night in Jordan Hall and John Musto and Mark Campbell's opera Later the Same Evening in the Black Box theater Thursday - Sunday. This festival was conceived in memoriam John Heiss.
