The EM Nova Fellowship is a student-led CONCERT PRODUCTION managed by fellows who program, promote, and produce new original artistic presentations, overseen by the EM Department.
Fellows work together to develop an artistic mission and design performance experiences that fulfill it.
The EM Nova Fellows have access to a discretionary budget to hire additional NEC student musicians and pay costs related to promotion or other concert materials. Fellows are responsible for all nonprofit management tasks including but not limited to producing, marketing, additional personnel hiring, and reporting regularly to EM Staff.
In past years, the Nova Fellows have produced events including ShapinGroove and MOSAIC. Given the shorter time frame, Spring '23 EM Nova fellows will produce two concerts on the Bower stage.
The fellowships are open to any returning NEC student in any discipline. The application consists of essay questions, a resume that shows related experience, and an in-person interview. Fellows each receive a $750 stipend for the semester; workload mirrors the time commitment and compensation of a 3-5 hour/week work study position, with more hours for the week of performances. Expectation of an EM Nova fellow are being a professional and cooperative team player, meeting with your team at least once a week, bi-weekly meetings with EM Staff, communicating professionally with all NEC faculty and staff when on Nova business, completing tasks promptly, and being fiscally responsible with all provided funds.
