Join us on Wednesday, February 20 for a pre-concert reception featuring a conversation with NEC Faculty member, Hankus Netsky, prior to experiencing the Film Noir: Diva for yourself at NEC's historic Jordan Hall.
The pre-concert reception begins at 6:00 pm in the Eben Jordan Ensemble Room in the Student Life and Performance Center. Following the reception, make your way to Jordan Hall for the Film Noir: Diva performance at 7:30 p.m.
Every year the CI department presents a Film Noir Concert, directed by Ran Blake and Aaron Hartley, showcasing the cinematic work of such luminaries as Claude Chabrol, Alfred Hitchcock, Gene Tierney, Marlon Brando, Carlos Saura, and many more. Working with the original score along with new compositions and improvisations across a wide range of genres, Contemporary Improvisation students, ensembles, and special guests recreate a compelling soundtrack in real time. This year's 14th annual production features Diva, the French thriller by Jean-Jacques Beineix centered around a postman’s obsession with opera diva Cynthia Hawkins, exploring themes of corruption, mistaken identity, and love.
