Yoon-Wha Roh, a native of Korea, made her debut with the Russian Philharmonic Orchestra in KBS Hall at the age of 15. Since then, Roh has performed with many of the prestigious orchestras including the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra in Texas, Saint Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra in Russia, New Jersey State Orchestra in New York, Korean Symphony Orchestra, Korean Philharmonic Orchestra at Seoul Arts Center and Seoul National Symphony Orchestra at KBS Hall, Korea. Her 2014 concerto performance with Sungnam Philharmonic Orchestra at Sungnam Arts Center was highly acclaimed with fully sold-out tickets.
Miss Roh has won a number of competitions including Piano Texas Concerto Competition, Hakata Fukuoka Piano Competition in Japan, Korea Piano Society Competition, National Youth Music Competition and Korea Music Association Competition in Seoul. She has been featured in Korean monthly music magazines, <Eumak Journal> and <The Piano>, for her orchestra performances and interviews. Most recent broadcast of her performance was her Tchaikovsky Concerto performance with Korean Philharmonic Orchestra by Pyeonghwa Broadcasting Corporation. Also, her solo performance was broadcast in Television program "Fantastico" while participating in Villa-Lobos Competition in Brazil.
She has appeared in recitals at major halls including Seoul Arts Center IBK Hall, Harris Concert Hall in Aspen, Steinway Hall in New York, and Beethoven/Schoenberg Piano Festival in Jordan Hall, Boston. Miss Roh participated in numerous music festivals, such as Prague Music Performance, Aspen Music Festival, GMMFS, Piano Texas International Academy & Festival, Schlern International Music Festival, Banff Center, New Paltz International Summer Festival, Bowdoin International Music Festival and International Keyboard Institute & Festival.
Miss Roh currently serves as a faculty of New England Conservatory of Music, School of Preparatory and Continuing Education. She obtained her Doctor of Music Degree at Indiana University where she studied with Arnaldo Cohen, minoring in both Music Theory and Arts Administration. She completed her Performance Diploma at Peabody Institute where she studied with Alexander Shtarkman, and her Master of Music Degree at New England Conservatory with Victor Rosenbaum.
