Carey Shunskis

Carey Shunskis is an active soprano and choral educator in Boston.  Ms. Shunskis received Masters of Music degree in Choral Conducting at Boston University in 2012 and Bachelors of Music degrees in Music Education and Voice Performance from the University of Rhode Island, where she is an annual guest conductor with the University of Rhode Island Alumni Chorus.

As a professional singer, Ms. Shunskis is the Soprano Choral Scholar at Marsh Chapel, a member of the Handel and Haydn Society Chorus and the co-founder of the new vocal chamber ensemble, The Brookline Consort. She has performed as a soloist and chorus member with the Eccelisa Consort of Providence, Masterworks Chorale, Phoenicia Singers, the Weimar Bach Academy, the Choralp festival in France, and is a founding member of VOICES 21C. Ms. Shunskis was a core member of the Philadelphia Singers and can be heard on the 2015 album featuring Randall Thompson’s Requiem.

Ms. Shunskis is the Music Director of Harvard pro Musica and founder of the Summer Choral Workshop, a one-day clinic and concert for community choir members from the Boston area featuring vocal clinics and rehearsals with professional singers and guest conductors culminating in a concert.  Ms. Shunskis is the Founder of the South Shore Children’s Chorus, which offers musical education and vocal training to students on the South Shore of Boston and is on the voice faculty at the South Shore Conservatory.  In 2017 Ms. Shunskis directed choirs and taught vocal technique to children ages 7-17 with the Vienna Boys Choir Summer Music Academy in Hong Kong and joined the New England Conservatory Preparatory School faculty as Interim Director of Children’s Choruses.
