ABOUT WILLIAM THOMAS MCKINLEY

A talented jazz pianist and prolific composer, McKinley first arrived at NEC in 1972, when President Gunther Schuller hired him to teach composition, orchestration, jazz improvisation, and piano students, and remained on the faculty until 1995. His students remember him as an ebullient mentor whose unbridled creative spirit was infectious. He passed away in 2015.
