Recital: Trio Tyche, NEC Honors Ensemble
Each year, an audition committee of professional musicians and faculty selects a few exceptional student ensembles to represent the NEC Honors Ensemble Program. The ensembles work with a faculty coach and are given an opportunity to perform a spring recital in NEC's Jordan Hall.

Hailing from the United States, Trio Tyche was founded at the New England Conservatory of Music in September 2023. Nominated as a 2023-2024 NEC Honors Ensemble and coached by Nicholas Kitchen, the trio is composed of pianist Hans Chan ‘24 MM, cellist Lillian Yim ‘24 BM, and violinist Emma Servadio ‘26 BM. Their teachers consist of Alexander Korsantia, Yeesun Kim, and Miriam Fried. Individually, members have had great success in competitions such as the Los Angeles International Liszt Competition, ArtePiano e-Competition, Tecchler-Forster Cello competition and more. They have also performed through recent years at acclaimed festivals, among them: Heifetz International Music Institute, Tanglewood Music Center, Kneisel Hall, and Domaine Forget de Charlevoix.

“Tyche” derives from the Greek goddess of chance and fortune. Grateful for the opportunities bestowed to them, Trio Tyche is enthusiastic to share their love of chamber music with audiences through various concerts in the Boston area.

Tonight, Trio Tyche performs Beethoven's Piano Trio in B-flat Major, op. 97, Smetana's Piano Trio in G Minor, op. 15, and the premiere of Is it still autumn? (2023) by Matthew Tirona '28 Tufts/NEC.
