Postponed | The Connection: Chains and Change, with Bill Banfield ’83

Note: This event has been postponed, and will be updated with the new date when available.

Through documenting the stories and histories of Black NEC alumni, we can connect past to present and illuminate the seldom heard tales of NEC’s Black students.

Catch part two of the new NEC Black Student Union Docuseries, The Connection: Chains and Change.

Hosted by David Norville ’20, ‘22 MM, this project creates a channel of conversation and understanding with the Black community of NEC’s past, educate the community of the New England Conservatory on its inspiring Black alumni, and highlight said alumni who are transforming their fields.

Episode 2: Bill Banfield

The second episode of this two-part release features the esteemed Bill Banfield ’83, composer, historian, writer, guitarist, and so much more.

In this episode, we’re placing ourselves in late in early 1980’s Boston. How did this generation of musicians respond to adversity? In what ways have inequities and prejudice appeared in the conservatory over the last few decades? We’re taking survey of our alumni and their stories as we look toward a more just and inclusive future.

Celebrating Black History Month:
