The NEC Honors Ensembles are selected each year by competitive audition for their extraordinary artistic accomplishment and commitment to work together.

Awarded as a “New England Conservatory Honors Ensemble”, The Blanche String Quartet was formed in September 2019 at the New England Conservatory in Boston, coached by Merry Peckham. The quartet is composed of violinists Ian Hsu and Kun Yan, violist Lawrence Wong and cellist Jonathan Salman. Their teachers include world-renowned artists Soovin Kim, Aaron Rosand, Ayano Ninomiya, Marcus Thompson, and Paul Katz.

The members of the Blanche Quartet have individually claimed top prizes in competitions, and performed worldwide. They have also been invited to participate in esteemed music festivals such as Music@Menlo, Yellow Barn, Bowdoin, Morningside Music Bridge, and more.

The word “Blanche” is associated with beauty and purity, which are the qualities the quartet strives to share with its listeners. Blanche Quartet is beyond thrilled to be giving their debut recital at New England Conservatory’s Jordan Hall in April 2020.
