String Quartet Celebration: Jupiter & Parker Quartets

| New England Conservatory: Jordan Hall

NEC celebrates its String Quartet Program with three concerts in one week. The Jupiter and Parker Quartets return to NEC to start the celebration.

The Grammy award winning Parker Quartet start the evening with a performance of Stravinsky's Concertino for string quartet, before members of the Jupiter String Quartet join in for the significant and substantial Verklärte Nacht by Arnold Schoenberg.

The Avery Fisher Career Grant recipient Jupiter Quartet then take over the second half with selections of Dvorák's melodic Cypresses, with members of the Parker coming back on stage to conclude the night with one of Brahm's string sextets.

Both quartets graduated from NEC's selective and intensive Professional String Quartet Training Program, led by NEC cello faculty and founding member of the Cleveland Quartet, Paul Katz.
