Youth and Family Enrichment Services is a non-profit organization focused on offering family-oriented services to the Haitian community of greater Boston.
YoFES offers health, education, and child care programs, and extra-curricular instruction in music and art. Through YoFES, students can participate in a choir, or take individual lessons on an instrument. The music education program, “OAMEC” – Open Access to Music Education for Children, began as a youth empowerment program using music as a creative outlet. In collaboration with the Suzuki Institute of Boston, OAMEC provides a community-support network for youth development for children who may not otherwise have access to instrumental music. NEC’s CPP Program has matched Teaching Fellows with YoFES since 2008.
