The NEC Undergraduate Diploma (UD) provides intensive studio instruction during three years of study in instrumental performance, vocal performance, or composition. Students register for repertoire coaching, ensemble, chamber music, and course work related to their major. The educational prerequisite for entry into the Undergraduate Diploma is a high school diploma. Audition standards are higher than those for the Bachelor of Music program.

Please note that the Undergraduate Diploma is not a degree and does not typically qualify students for entry into graduate degree programs. The Undergraduate Diploma program is usually most appropriate for students who have completed a bachelor's degree in a field other than music but who are now prepared to embark on intensive study of music.

The Undergraduate Diploma is offered in the majors listed below. Please use these links to find specific information pertaining to your intended major. If you wish to apply to the UD program, please contact Admissions for information on application process.
