in May 2013, Joseph Morgan will attend the international conference "Richard Wagner's Impact on His World and Ours" at University of Leeds and deliver a paper titled “Wagner’s Re-conception of Weber’s German Nationalism.”
Over October 4-7, 2012, Gregory Smith and Joseph Morgan attended the German Studies Association Conference in Milwaukee. They delivered papers titled "French Revolutionary Music: Crossing the Rhine" and “Weber, the Durchbruch and the Daemon in Early Romantic German Opera,” respectively.
On September 26th, 2011, Music History Department Chair Katarina Markovic collaborated with the NEC Philharmonia to present the modern premiere of the first version of Gustav Mahler's first symphony. The concert included a lecture-demonstration by Professor Markovic, with the participation of the whole orchestra, and involved projection of images from the Mahler manuscript on a screen above the stage in Jordan Hall.
