Great artists give free concerts at New England Conservatory—simply because they teach here.

Stephen Lange and Jason Snider are both members of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Lange, a trombone player and NEC faculty member since 2011, joined the orchestra in 2010. Snider joined both New England Conservatory and the Boston Symphony Orchestra playing French horn in 2007.

In tonight's concert, the two will play separately on a pair of pieces with piano accompaniment by Deborah Emery, and two works with each other. The works being performed will include both Romantic and 20th Century compositions as noted in the listings below.

The Program:

Marcel Bitsch: Variations sur une Chanson Française, for horn and piano
Jason Snider, horn
Paul Hindemith: Sonata for Trombone and Piano
Stephen Lange, trombone
Franz Schubert: Auf Dem Strom
