Great artists give free concerts at New England Conservatory—simply because they teach here.

Baritone Michael Meraw of the NEC faculty performs Schubert's Winterreise in its entirety, with fellow faculty member, pianist Cameron Stowe.

Winterreise (Winter Journey) is not merely a collection of songs upon a single theme (lost or unrequited love), but is in effect one single dramatic monologue. A fundamental of the German Lied, the cycle has strongly influenced not only the style but also the vocal method and technique in German classical music as a whole. The resources of intellect and interpretative power required to deliver this work challenge the greatest singers.
